Visited Scotland last week watched the two day pre-65 trial, local rider Andy 'Father Jack' Hipwell was riding his BSA in his first event and finished inside the top 50, not a bad effort for his first attempt. Especially when you consider he's getting on a bit too! Then stayed for the first two days of the main six day event, Macc trials chairman Ben Miles was riding his first Scottish too and had a steady week in some of the best weather (for spectators but not the riders) seen in Scotland for some time. So well done Ben, no doubt that practice will stand you in good stead for the Loch Lomond in a couple of weeks time, might have to stick 50psi in your back tyre when you're not looking!! Eiger

Forgot to mention a few others, Brian 'the unknown' Cotterill who won the pre 65 a few years ago and put in yet another cracking ride to finish although he would not stay still enough for a photo eh Mandy! Then for the main event Buxton rider Craig Robinson was up there with the toplads on Monday with just two marks lost, Craigfinished the week just outside the top twenty. His brother Liam in his first event finished well up the order too. A cracking week which even saw Luke from Gas Gas UK lever his fat, moth infested wallet open and buy a round at the West End! The rumour of the day was that Buxton enterpreneur Phil Turner lost a fight with a tent but Phil strongly denied this and blamed poor lighting at the campsite as the reason for his sudden star-gazing!!
